Six regions are confirmed. Everything else you have seen comes off one leaked image, and the community project that has mapped this game for years calls that image entirely fake. The whole ledger is below, with sources.

There is no interactive location map here yet. Nobody outside Rockstar has the real one, and Rockstar's own map art belongs to Rockstar — we will not be reproducing it, and we will not be reproducing the leaked image either. Ours gets drawn from scratch and filled in with locations players confirm after launch.
That part fills in on 19 November 2026, the day GTA 6 unlocks — 50 days from now. Everything below is live today.
What Rockstar has confirmed
Six named regions, shown or described by Rockstar itself. These are the only parts of the map that are not guesswork, and they are the only ones the model above positions.

Vice City — the state's one major city, and the centre of the map
The Miami analogue the series has used before, returned to in the present day. Rockstar has shown named districts within it, including Ocean Beach and Little Cuba. It is one part of Leonida rather than the whole of it.

Leonida Keys — the island chain running south from the mainland
A tropical archipelago, Rockstar's stand-in for the Florida Keys, presented as a holiday strip with a harder economy underneath it.

Grassrivers — the wetlands, modelled on the Everglades
Swamp and mangrove. Trailer 2 showed airboat traversal and wildlife here, which is the clearest indication so far that the region is traversed rather than looked at.

Port Gellhorn — a decayed resort town
Cheap motels, closed attractions and empty strip malls: the part of the coast the tourism left. Rockstar presents its economy as informal.

Ambrosia — industrial inland Leonida
Built around the Allied Crystal sugar refinery, with a biker gang occupying the space the refinery does not. The clearest example of the map reaching well outside Vice City.

Mount Kalaga National Park — the northern edge of the state
A national park on Leonida's remote northern border, characterised by Rockstar as off-grid country. It is the northernmost place Rockstar has named, which is why the model puts the state's top edge here.

We do not host, link or describe the leaked image itself — it is Rockstar's material and it is under active takedown — so every line below is what press coverage reports about it.

Rockstar's own extended look premieres on 27 August, and is the next thing that can settle any of this
“Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look” premieres on Netflix on Thursday 27 August at 3 p.m. ET, and goes up on Rockstar's YouTube channel and the official Grand Theft Auto VI site six hours later at 9 p.m. ET, with no subscription needed for the second showing. Rockstar has not said what it contains. Nothing on this page should be treated as settled until after it airs.

Gameplay clips and a screenshot of the map began circulating on 18 August, posted by an entity calling itself CyberLeek
Two roughly minute-long clips featuring Jason — a waterside safehouse, and a road collision that turns into a fistfight — appeared alongside a screenshot of the Florida-inspired map, with more material following over the days after. The poster said they would keep going in protest at Rockstar's decision to make the game digital-only, and asked for cryptocurrency payments to continue.

Rockstar and Take-Two issued DMCA takedowns within hours — which is not the same as confirming the material is real
Posts carrying the clips were removed across several platforms. Outlets have read the takedowns as circumstantial evidence of authenticity, and it is worth being precise about why that is weak: a rights holder has every reason to remove material claiming to be its unreleased game whether or not it is. Rockstar has made no statement on whether any of it is genuine.

Even the parts of the leak that are believed appear to be years old, so they do not describe the game that ships
The insider NateTheHate said on ResetEra that the footage is more than a year old and likely from 2024. File metadata showed it was encoded with FFmpeg 6.1, released in November 2023 — which puts a floor under the encode, not the capture. The GTAForums administrator Spider-Vice made exactly that objection: the build could be older than the encode, and old software can be used at any later date. What both sides agree on is the direction: this is not the game that ships in November.

The community mapping project that has tracked this map for years says the leaked image is fake
The GTA 6 Mapping Project called the image “entirely fake”, saying its analysis found that locations on it “don't pan out the way they should” against what is already known. This is the sharpest split in the whole leak: the gameplay clips are widely treated as genuine while the map image — the part that would matter most here — is disputed by the group with the strongest track record on the subject.

Outlets describing the leaked image report five counties on it: Lummox, Kelly, Leonard, Vice-Dale and Mariana
Reported placement is Lummox to the north, Kelly to the west, Leonard to the east, Vice-Dale around Vice City and Mariana across the southern wetlands. Rockstar has never used the word “county” for Leonida, none of these names has appeared in any official material, and the image they come from is the one the mapping project disputes. Treat them as names on a picture of uncertain origin.

The same image is reported to name coastal and island locations including Dalton Island, Tequesta Retreat, Gloriana Key and Catalan Key
Reported alongside airports, coastal highways and a chain of southern islands. Same provenance as the county names and the same standing: described by outlets, never confirmed, and sitting on an image a credible community project calls fake.

Artwork found in a GTA Online update was read as a hidden look at the map — on no evidence beyond the shape
Players in the Kortz Center Heist update found a piece of art showing an obscured green expanse under black smudges, with a central landmass and smaller islands, and argued on Reddit that it was the Leonida map inverted. The outlet that reported it called it more of an Easter egg than marketing. Rockstar has said nothing. It is included here because it circulated widely, not because it holds up.
