How we make money

Right now, we do not. As of August 2026 Coquina is in no affiliate programme and has earned nothing at all. The rules below are written down anyway, so they are already here when that changes rather than bolted on afterwards.

When it does change: some outbound links to shops will carry a tag, we may earn a commission if you buy through one, it costs you nothing extra, and it buys nobody a better placement.

What an affiliate link is

When we link to a shop, that link sometimes carries a tag identifying this site. If you buy something after following it, the retailer pays us a small percentage. The price you pay is exactly the same as it would be without the tag.

Affiliate links on this site go through a /go/ address so we can count how many people clicked. That counter records the slug, the time, which page of this site you came from, your country and a hashed fingerprint of your browser's user-agent string. It does not record your IP address, and it never has.

The rules we hold ourselves to

  • A commission never changes a recommendation, a ranking or a review. If the cheapest option pays us nothing, the cheapest option is still what we say.
  • Every page carrying affiliate links says so, above the fold, before you read the recommendations rather than after.
  • Affiliate links are marked rel="sponsored nofollow" so search engines can tell them apart from editorial links. We never disguise one as an ordinary recommendation.
  • The countdown page carries no advertising and no affiliate links, and it never will.
  • We only link to retailers we would use ourselves, and we do not accept payment for coverage, placement or a favourable write-up.

Current status

As of August 2026 this site is not enrolled in any affiliate programme and earns nothing. The plumbing exists so that when that changes, the disclosure is already here rather than being bolted on afterwards. This page will name the programmes once there are any to name.
